I recently made a trip to Charleston, SC for a short vacation over the labor day weekend. This was personally my first visit to the city, so I was not sure what to expect. I had heard a lot of pleasant experiences from people, so I was definatly looking forward to it.

First we stopped by the USS Yorktown at Patriots Point. This was the second leg of a ship interest, after just visiting the USS North Carolina a couple weeks before.

Here are a hand full of images from the ship.

A Brighter World

As most of you know a storm has moved across the U.S. the last couple of days dumping all kinds of precipitation, mostly snow, as it passed. Many of you can probably look out the window right now and understand my title.

When snow hits the Carolinas like it has the last couple days, things come to a crawl, and the cancelations begin to roll across the bottom of our television screens. It is then that my family and I like to venture out of the comfort of our warm home and see the completely transformed world outside.

Here some of the images that I have captured over the past few days, beginning on my way home from work on Friday, Jan. 29, 2010 through present. Check it out!

I went on vacation to Holden Beach, and have done several HDRs along with other photos. Here is the ocean just in front of the house we stayed in.

Some thunderstorms blew up one afternoon while I was in Walkertown, N.C.  I had the fisheye in the car so I decided to make a HDR.

We were introduced to a program called Photomatix at school last week, so I had to try it out, here is what I created.

For those of you that do now know what an HDR is, it is the combining of 3-5 bracketed images. This means each capture is shot at a different exposures, properly exposing different areas of the scene. Photomatix pulls the images together and creates more closely what the scene looks like with the human eye in a single image. Go and try the Photomatix trial!
