High School Basketball

One of my assignments at RCC was to go to at least three high school basketball games, light it, and photograph it, turning in one shot from each game. Here are the three I turned in.

Christmas Trees

These shots were for a story to find out if the tough economic times were causing people to cut back on buying a real Christmas tree over a fake, or having a tree at all.  The results seemed to be the same across the board, people were still buying real Christmas trees, 1) because fake ones are more expensive, 2) its a tradition that could not be done away with.  The decorating of the tree seemed to be everyone’s excuse, it cheered people up, and making the toughness of the times fade away.

This was my final assignment of my internship with the News and Record.

The last week of my internship was pretty slow, so I did some walking around downtown Greensboro to see what there was to be seen.  Here are a couple I liked.

Feature Practice

December 11, 2008 was a slow, rainy day in Greensboro, N.C.  Rob Brown (Director of Photography at the N and R) felt such a nasty, wet day would be a wonderful opportunity for me to learn a thing or two about shooting features.  At the time, I sort of despised him for sending me out in the down pour, but after it was over with, I’m glad he sent me out.  I was forced to figure out the art of features, in almost the worst conditions possible, and had a pretty good time at it, especially once night fall arrived.
